Directions to St Philip & St James', Leckhampton, Cheltenham, from Evesham

The church is at the Cheltenham end of Leckhampton, on the corner of Grafton Road and Gratton Road.

Parking

There is a small car park at the church, and parking on the streets around the church. Please be considerate of our neighbours when parking. There is also a pay and display car park just off the Bath Road at Bath Terrace, 5 minutes' walk away. Here are directions to both the church and this car park.

From Evesham

  1. Approach Cheltenham on the A46.

  2. At the racecourse roundabout, take the the third exit (including the racecourse entrance), signposted Cheltenham and town centre.

  3. Continue straight on past the park, through two sets of traffic lights (including a pedestrian crossing). Stay in the left-hand lane.

  4. At the crossroads when straight ahead is no entry, turn left and get into the right-hand lane.

  5. Follow the road to the right, moving into the left-hand lane once round the corner.

  6. At traffic lights, turn left.

  7. Follow road through 4 sets of traffic lights (including pedestrian crossings), moving into right-hand lane when it appears after first bend to right.

  8. At the T junction, the road forks. Your lane takes you to the right, signposted Stroud, Gloucester and town centre.

  9. Continue to follow the road, moving into the left-hand lane when possible. (If traffic is too heavy, don't panic.)

  10. The road turns to the left, at the Bella Italia restaurant. Continue past the pubs and car park. The road then forks again.

  11. Go straight on in the left-hand lane, signposted Stroud, Birdlip and Leckhampton.

    (If you're still in the right-hand lane, you're taken to the right.

    • Move into the left-hand lane as you turn the corner

    • take first left

    • turn left at the end of the road, past the tower block

    • turn right. You're now back on the right road.)

  12. Continue on this road past the tower block through 2 sets of traffic lights.

  13. For church:

    • Continue through 2 sets of traffic lights (both pedestrian crossings).

    • Just after the second set, and just before the roundabout, turn right into side road, signposted St Philip & St James' Church.

    • The church is clearly visible on the right.

  14. For Bath Terrace car park:

    • Immediately before the next set of traffic lights (a pedestrian crossing), turn right into side road, signposted P Bath Road Shoppers.

    • Leave the car park on foot at the opposite end, past the digitial printer's, and continue straight on down Bethesda Street, keeping the converted school on your left.

    • At the corner with the school, turn left.

    • When the road bends slightly left at Norwood Road, cross to the large bollarded traffic island and follow the cycle path straight ahead.

    • Continue straight ahead at the other side of the traffic island.

    • The end of the church is clearly visible ahead on the right. Ignore the back door; the entrance is round the corner.
